“The Bucket Drumming Experience”

Purpose of Program

Musical Expressions Experience Bucket Drumming program is dedicated to Mississippi youth interested in learning the basics of music theory, rhythms, and introduction to a musical instrument. “Experience Bucket Drumming”, programming is funded and made possible by the Mississippi Arts Commission and The National Endowment for the Arts. The purpose of this program is to promote and preserve the performing arts of all genres of music, to educate and enrich the community through exposure to visual and performing arts, and to encourage the excellence of music.

Our Bucket drumming program will be offered in-house as an after-school enrichment program and will be offered to local school districts and youth organizations as a free education workshop. Upon partnership, our team will travel to local sites to teach programming once a week.

What is Bucket Drumming?

Bucket drumming is a drumming method that is accessible to everyone! Plastic buckets and other objects, such as glass bottles, pots, and pans, are utilized to make rhythms - no drum kit required! Imagine how many beats you can make with just a bucket!

Why Bucket Drumming?

The heart of all music is rhythm. Rhythm, regardless of genre or instrument, gives music vitality and meaning. Many students have difficulty reading and playing rhythms. Bucket drumming is becoming increasingly popular since it is inexpensive, accessible, and can be practiced anywhere. Furthermore, it is an excellent introduction to rhythmic abilities, percussion instruments, and even small children may learn basic beats and recognize notation. This lesson is an excellent introduction to drumming or a door opener to other instruments.
